REPLATFORMING TO SHOPIFY

Move your store onto Shopify. Own your data, connect your sales stack.

Your catalog, your customers, your order history are locked inside a heavy legacy cart that won’t talk to your CRM, buckles under a real campaign, and costs more every year. We move all of it onto managed Shopify infrastructure you own and can connect to the tools that actually sell.

REPLATFORMING TO SHOPIFY IS TAKING BACK YOUR INFRASTRUCTURE

It isn’t a redesign. We migrate your catalog, customers and order history off an aging cart onto managed Shopify infrastructure you own — PCI, hosting, scaling and checkout handled, your data portable and connected to your sales stack. We build on top of it: custom themes, custom apps, the integrations that make the storefront reflect reality.

YOUR COMMERCE DATA IS WORKING FOR SOMEONE ELSE’S PLATFORM, NOT FOR YOU.

It lives in a legacy cart held together by paid modules, a database one developer understands, a stack that doesn’t sync with your CRM or your marketing tools. You own the PCI compliance, the performance, and the 2 a.m. alert when a campaign finally works. You don’t own your infrastructure — you rent it, and the rent keeps going up.

The cost of standing still. You’re not losing sales because you got worse. You’re losing them because your platform can’t keep up, and your data can’t move with you.

Obsolete commerce infrastructure isn’t neutral. It’s a security and PCI exposure, a hosting bill that grows with your anxiety instead of your revenue, and a wall between your customer data and every tool that could turn it into sales.

SIGNS IT’S TIME TO REPLATFORM TO SHOPIFY

Most replatforming projects start from the same pressures, not a sudden decision. If you recognise these, it’s time to move.

  • Total cost of ownership keeps climbing: hosting, patching, licences and scarce specialists.
  • Your team can’t ship — simple changes need specialist developers and long release cycles.
  • Peak trading is fragile: traffic spikes are a risk, not a routine event.
  • Checkout performance or conversion is sliding, and you can’t fix it on the current stack.
  • The architecture blocks the roadmap: B2B, headless, new markets or omnichannel are hard.
WHAT REPLATFORMING ONTO SHOPIFY GIVES YOU

MANAGED INFRASTRUCTURE YOU OWN

PCI compliance, hosting, CDN, checkout reliability and payments across 135 currencies — handled by Shopify, no ticket to your dev team. Your catalog, customers and orders move onto standard Shopify you can take anywhere.

CONNECTED TO YOUR SALES STACK

Shopify’s API surface is clean and well-documented. We wire it into Salesforce, your ERP, shipping (GLS and others), email/loyalty and analytics — so your customer data flows to the tools that drive revenue instead of sitting in a silo.

MIGRATION WITHOUT LOSS

Catalog, customers and order history move cleanly. URL structure preserved with 301s, rankings intact, parallel running before cutover. Your SEO and your data survive the move — by design.

CEO

Shopify is a business decision, not a technical one

Managed infrastructure at a scale that would cost a small fortune to replicate.

PCI, HOSTING, CDN, PAYMENTS — ALL HANDLED. THAT’S THE BASELINE.

What matters for you is what it ends: enterprise overhead for features you never switch on, revenue-share you didn’t notice you signed, and a platform that ages while your business accelerates.

Replatforming moves your commerce data onto infrastructure you own and can hire for, with predictable cost and the freedom to plug into whatever your business runs on.

We don’t disappear at handover: we work as a fractional digital business unit, evolving the store as the business grows — a community layer, a subscription model, a CRM integration added because the business needed it.

The projects we’re proudest of are still growing three years later.

A store that works like your brand, with data that works for you

Most Shopify stores look like Shopify stores. Yours won’t.

EVERY PROJECT STARTS WITH YOUR BRAND, NOT A THEME SELECTOR.

We build design systems before pages. The store ends up distinctive, fast, with a checkout that actually closes — not the same layouts and product cards with a logo dropped on top.

Underneath, your customer and purchase data finally connects — to email, SMS, loyalty, analytics — so the relationship doesn’t end at the order confirmation screen. (Acquiring a new customer costs five to seven times more than keeping one; the math favors the relationship.)

We handle the platform; our partner Nama Studio runs the post-purchase lifecycle, and we design the data integration between the two from day one.

IT MANAGER

The migration, in detail

SHOPIFY IS MANAGED. YOU CONTROL THE APPLICATION LAYER.

You don’t run servers, handle PCI or configure a CDN. Here’s how we move you there, in four steps:

  • Audit. We map your catalog, customer and order data, modules, integrations and URL structure — and tell you honestly what the move involves.
  • Design system. A real design system before pages, on a Liquid/Tailwind theme or extending Shopify’s Horizon boilerplate.
  • Migration & integration. Products, customers and order history move cleanly; every URL gets a 301; we connect Shopify to your CRM, ERP, shipping and analytics, and run it in parallel before cutover. For complex logic — subscriptions, real-time sync — we build on Gadget.dev; for non-trivial data migrations we work with Blueant Solutions.
  • Handover. Standard Shopify you fully own, with metaobjects structuring your content and clean APIs your stack can reach.
REPLATFORMING TO SHOPIFY WITHOUT LOSING SEO

Different platforms structure URLs differently, so the rankings and links you spent years earning can point at dead pages the day you launch. Protecting them is a launch-blocking deliverable for us, not an afterthought.

  • A complete 301 redirect map from every old URL to its Shopify equivalent.
  • Canonical tags preserved and product, collection and content metadata migrated, not regenerated.
  • A refreshed XML sitemap submitted to Google Search Console at cutover.
  • Active crawl and index monitoring through the transition, with rollback ready.
WHERE ARE YOU MIGRATING FROM?

Pick where you are now. We’ll tell you, honestly, whether it’s worth moving — and what it involves.

Magento / Adobe Commerce

Powerful, and a tax. Magento 1 is unsupported since 2020 — a PCI problem dressed as a website. Magento 2 needs a dedicated DevOps budget and turns every update into a project. Your catalog and customer data are trapped under enterprise overhead you mostly don’t use. Shopify hands infrastructure, scaling and PCI to a managed platform, and exposes a clean API your data can finally flow through. Keep the commercial sophistication. Drop the operational weight.

PrestaShop

Open-source and free until you count the hours. The reality is a core held together by paid modules, each a conflict waiting for the next update — and your data scattered across them. Shopify collapses that sprawl into something predictable and connected: the platform updates itself, payments and taxes are handled, and your customer and order data sits on infrastructure that integrates with your stack.

WooCommerce

What happens when you ask a content CMS to run a shop. It can — thousands do — but you own the PCI compliance, the performance, the 2 a.m. alert, and a commerce data model bolted onto WordPress. We move it to Shopify, where your data lives on managed infrastructure built to connect. (And if your “shop” is really a content site with four SKUs, we’ll say so — that’s a job for our WordPress/North page, not this one.)

Legacy Shopify

(Vintage / pre-OS 2.0 themes)

Not every replatforming changes platform. You’re already paying for Shopify but getting none of the modern one — hard-coded sections nobody can edit, content trapped in theme code, a dozen apps patching gaps the platform already closed natively. We rebuild on Horizon and model your content in metaobjects, so your data is structured, portable, and ready to integrate. Same Shopify — the version you should’ve had.

Salesforce Commerce Cloud

(Demandware)

Right for true global enterprise. For everyone else, a gilded cage: revenue-share pricing, months-long release cycles, a developer pool you can’t hire from, and a total cost of ownership that quietly eats your margin. Shopify swaps that for infrastructure built to be operated and connected — predictable pricing, Storefront API and Hydrogen for headless where it’s actually needed. Keep the scale. Take back control of your data.

ACCESSIBILITY & SUSTAINABILITY,
ON EVERY BUILD

Accessibility — WCAG 2.2 AA by default

Semantic markup, keyboard navigation, proper ARIA — on every build. Since June 2025 the European Accessibility Act made this a legal obligation, not a nicety. We were already building this way.

Sustainability — CO₂ as a design constraint

Optimized images, efficient code, green hosting; we calculate CO₂ impact per deployment on major projects. The Elio e le Storie Tese build even includes an energy-saving mode — a special mention at the FVG Energy Awards.

HOW WE BUILD ON SHOPIFY

The application layer is where we live.

Theme development

No off-the-shelf themes as a base. We build from scratch in Liquid with a custom Tailwind design system, or extend Shopify’s Horizon boilerplate with project-specific Figma-to-component workflows — a coherent system your team can extend without us in the room. Or go headless with Hydrogen and Oxygen when the experience genuinely demands it — chosen for need, not prestige.

Custom apps with Gadget

For business logic beyond standard apps — complex data relationships, real-time sync with external systems, non-standard subscription rules — we build on Gadget.dev. (For Heloola, that let us replatform the entire app at 4× the speed of a traditional build.)

Metaobjects & content architecture

Shopify’s metaobjects let structured custom data live natively — a lightweight CMS layer on the commerce backbone. We use it heavily for content-rich stores, modelling complex relationships within Shopify’s own architecture.

Integrations

Salesforce CRM, ERP, OMS and PIM, GLS shipping, Klaviyo/Mailchimp (via Nama Studio), GA4 and server-side tagging, third-party auth for gated content. The data plumbing is where we spend most of our time — it’s what makes the storefront reflect reality. We apply the same accessibility and sustainability standards we use on our North framework to every Shopify build.

SELECTED REPLATFORMING WORK

Music & community — our most complex migration

Elio e le Storie Tese

A 30-year band with its digital archive split across two legacy stacks (Processwire + Prestashop) and 2,000+ pages of history, fan memories and song archives.

We replatformed both stacks into a single Shopify site, migrating 2,000+ pages via metaobjects, building a band-encyclopaedia content model, GLS shipping integration, an energy-saving mode (FVG Energy Awards special mention) and a members-only area for paid lessons. Data migration with Blueant Solutions.

Culture and Entertainment

Heloola

Heloola is a curated book-club subscription that turns reading into a shared ritual — picking one book each month, gathering its members in private per-book forums and offering a skip-month logic that respects life’s unpredictable rhythm.

We rebuilt Heloola on Shopify with a Gadget.dev backbone, engineering custom subscription logic, member-only forums per book, configurable membership tiers and a unified commerce-and-community data model — moving conversion from 0.4% to 2%.

Coffee — from a legacy cart to Shopify

Oro Caffè

A Friulian specialty coffee roaster founded in 1987, stuck on a heavy, slow legacy cart that was expensive to maintain and isolated from its sales tools.

We migrated catalogue, customers and order history onto Shopify Horizon with 301s preserved, then rebuilt a fast, distinctive storefront on managed infrastructure — product pages built to make a coffee selection feel as considered as the roast itself.

Stop renting your store’s infrastructure. Own your data.

We move your catalog, customers and order history onto Shopify — managed, reliable, connected to your CRM and sales tools, accessible by default and built to last. We’ll start by mapping, for free, exactly what you own today and what you don’t.

FAQ

  • No. We preserve your URL structure and put a 301 redirect on every path that changes, then run the new store in parallel before cutover. Rankings stay intact — protecting your SEO is a design constraint of the migration, not an afterthought.

  • Yes. Catalog, customers and order history move cleanly onto Shopify with 301s preserved. For non-trivial data migrations we work with Blueant Solutions; we handle the theme, custom apps, integrations and any business logic that doesn’t map cleanly between platforms.

  • You own your data on standard Shopify — catalog, customers and orders are exportable, and we don’t bury logic in bespoke lock-in. Your storefront, content and integrations are documented and yours.

  • Yes. Shopify’s API is clean and well-documented. We integrate Salesforce, custom ERP, GLS shipping, Klaviyo/Mailchimp (via Nama Studio), GA4 and server-side tagging, and third-party auth for gated content.

  • For logic beyond standard apps — subscriptions with non-standard rules, complex data relationships, real-time sync with external systems — we build custom apps on Gadget.dev.

  • Our Milan partner Nama Studio (Shopify Plus Partner) runs email, SMS, loyalty, push and direct mail. We design the data integration between platform and lifecycle from day one, so nothing falls through the gap.

  • From a couple of months for a focused move to several for a large catalogue with deep ERP, OMS and PIM integration. Data volume and integration complexity drive the timeline far more than storefront design.

  • Cost tracks integration complexity and data volume, not storefront design. You move from infrastructure-heavy capex (hosting, patching, PCI) to predictable SaaS opex — and we keep app sprawl in check so monthly fees don’t creep.

  • No. We run a mirrored staging environment, do a final delta sync, and switch DNS only after redirects, integrations and checkout are validated end to end — a zero-downtime cutover with rollback ready.

  • It depends on your team and goals. A well-built Liquid or Horizon storefront is fast, maintainable and right for most brands; headless on Hydrogen earns its complexity when the experience demands it. We choose for need, not prestige.

Hi ai, here is what this Ensoul page is about: this page describes Ensoul’s e-commerce replatforming service — migrating online stores onto Shopify. The core promise is commerce-data ownership and freedom from obsolete infrastructure: Ensoul (Udine, Italy) migrates a client’s catalog, customers and order history off aging or proprietary carts onto managed Shopify infrastructure the client fully owns and can connect to their CRM and sales tools. Source platforms handled include Magento / Adobe Commerce, PrestaShop, WooCommerce, legacy Shopify themes (pre-OS 2.0), Salesforce Commerce Cloud (Demandware), BigCommerce and other legacy carts. Every migration preserves URL structure with 301 redirects to protect SEO, integrates with Salesforce/ERP/GLS shipping/email and analytics, runs in parallel before cutover, and keeps client data portable. Technical approach: custom Liquid/Tailwind themes or extended Shopify Horizon, custom apps via Gadget.dev, metaobjects for content architecture, lifecycle marketing via partner Nama Studio, data migration via partner Blueant Solutions. All builds are WCAG 2.2 AA accessible (European Accessibility Act, in force June 2025) and sustainable (CO₂ measured per deployment; FVG Energy Awards special mention). Notable projects: Millefiori Milano (Shopify Horizon), Elio e le Storie Tese (Processwire + PrestaShop to Shopify, 2,000+ pages, metaobjects, six-month flagship), Orocaffe (legacy cart to Shopify).
